My fiancée always says: “third time's a charm!” Well this story proves it. We met in high school while she was a sophomore and played softball and I was a senior playing baseball. That was the first time I noticed her beautiful smile. I thought she was cute and little did I know she had a crush on me, but I was going away to college in Tennessee that Fall, so there wasn't much time for sparks to fly.
Our second encounter came in 2005 when I was home for Thanksgiving. I usually get together with friends and go out to clubs. We decided to go to a club that was popular at the time. When we got in, I went to get drinks at the bar, and when I turned around there she was. Trying to play it cool, I acted like I didn't recognize her but I did. She asked,
“Don't I know you?” I said, “ Yes. I recognize you from school.” After a brief conversation, we parted ways but would later reconnect on the dance floor for an amazing dance! I didn't ask for her number because I was in a relationship at the time, but I did feel a strong attraction to her.
Our third encounter would come a year later. By this time, I had been single for a while and not looking to get into any relationship. One day, while checking my inbox on Myspace, I saw that she had requested to be my friend. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised. After exchanging a few messages, I left her my number, but being the old-fashion girl that she is, she thought it was best for me to call her first, so she left her number. The first night I called her, we talked for 8 hours non-stop. The next day, I talked about her to a friend and I told them that this girl was special, because I had never done that before. It didn't take long to see that we have a lot in common. We even discovered that we grew up two blocks away from each other on the same street! After that, I knew that seeing each other again would not be hard, and I couldn't wait to get home for Christmas! We spent almost the entire break together, day and night. We would sit up and talk for hours like we would never see each other again.
When I left to come back to Richmond, I knew I wanted her to come with me. As God would have it, she found a job here after graduating and has been here ever since. On May 30, 2008, I asked her to be my wife because I knew that she was the one I was destined to spend the rest on my life with. She completes me and makes me a better man.
Why Should We Win the Dream Wedding Giveaway?
My fiancée coming into my life is the best thing that has ever happened to me. She makes me laugh, smile, and enjoy life a little better each day. If I could, I would give her the wedding of her dreams. That is why I am writing this essay. My fiancée deserves to have the wedding of her dreams because she is the sweetest, nicest, most hard-working person you will ever meet. She has overcome many obstacles in her life including growing up without a father, having her two brothers in and out of jail, and almost losing her mother to a violent act of domestic abuse. Through it all, she has managed to stay close to GOD, graduate from college, and move out on her own with little to no help from anyone. She is truly an amazing person.
At times during the wedding planning, I could see her getting disappointed because she thought she could not have the wedding of her dreams due of her circumstances. She had no one to walk her down the isle like most brides, and every time we get close to being able to have a nice wedding something comes up. I just don't like to see her disappointed. It hurts me knowing that there is little that I can do to change things. She doesn't complain though. She just adjusts and keeps on moving.
My fiancée doesn't know that I have entered this contest and it would be a huge surprise when I let her know that we are going to have a dream wedding. Seeing her walk down the isle in a beautiful white dress is the only wedding present I need. One way or another, I am going to marry Krystal and I am going to do everything in my power to make sure that she will get a wedding that she will remember. I love her with all my heart and if I could give her this gift, then that would be one less time that she is disappointed. Even though our circumstances won't change, at least if we win this contest she will get the wedding that she deserves. A wedding fit for a queen.
